Quick back story, I've worked on cars all my life, when I was 17 I decided I would enlist in the Marines to fill the void in my stomach. Now that my 5 year term is almost up I feel that I can achieve even more outside the service. Prior to my enlistment I was ASE certified and worked part time at a dealership, and even though I still work on cars in my off time, I would like to keep it as a hobby. I'm not afraid to relocate or attend college, but I need advice from people who've experienced life. I was first leaning towards Mechanical Engineering, but got swayed due to finding a lack of jobs with a surplus of qualified personnel. I have strong leadership skills along with an array of abilities, I've never struggled in school so I'm leaning towards a career that requires a degree, but combines with some form of hands on labor(designing, fabricating, testing). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Side thought; does anyone know what Mike Smith's profession, I've searched and haven't pulled any leads? I know this is pretty broad, but I am starting with a nearly blank slate with a history of good academics, though I would like for it to tie into the automotive realm somehow.
